On 140 kgs

Back to my joint PB today 140 kgs on the deadlift. Just the one rep. Hands weren't particularly grippy as it was hot and humid in the gym.
Pleased to be back up to 140kgs. Experience suggests that having lifted that this week, next week is probably a couple of reps at that and then a push to 150 kgs.

Date: 2018-11-15 02:00 pm (UTC)We are at opposite ends of weight training - I'm currently lifting about 10% of that but I'm also doing squats and overhead presses with it and doing 5 sets of 5 reps. Mind you, that is also nearly 3 times my body weight!

Date: 2018-11-15 04:36 pm (UTC)Lifting stuff over your head is definately much, much harder. I like a good squat.
I can just, just manage about 40 kgs in an overhead press, which is about 1/3rd of my maximum deadlift. On a good day I can do 5-6 sets of 8-10 reps at 60-80 kgs and then kick on to lift 140 (once!) but after 1 or 2 sets of overhead presses I'm begining to feel tuckered out. Perhaps this is because I do the overhead presses after the deadlifting. Perhaps it is because I am a little anxious about dropping things on my head. Mostly I think shoulders are just not good for lifting heavy things.
I've only done a few squats with significant weight on a bar. I quite like it though. Mostly I've done goblet squats with a kettle bell. I've done clean and jerks once or twice. That just seems like madness, throwing heavy things at my own face.
I am pleased to be doing more rounded weight lifting over recent months.
In the New Year I'll shift focus to some cardio ahead of a 5k run over obstacles, which I'm doing with the Captain. Also ahead of trying to shift some weight from my own body.
