My chimmney has been damaged

I learn in a telephone conversation with My Lovely Wife that the chimney stack of our block of flats has been damaged in the recent gales. Our upstairs neighbours have been collecting quotes for emergency repairs and longer term work.
I’d hoped we’d escaped significant damage.
I was, in fact, a little surprised that we had. When we bought the flat about five years ago the survey reported that the roof was not in great condition and the vendor reduced the price by a few thousand pounds as a result.
I have to phone our insurance company tonight to inform them of the situation.
This is less than awesome.

Date: 2012-01-26 05:31 pm (UTC)One of my colleagues had his chimmney fall into his drying green. Big noise, big cloud of dust.
I'm ashamed to say I've no idea what my chimmney looks like. I keep meaning to go up onto the roof to have a look (and see if there might be a suitable sight for a beehive) but keep not quite getting round to it.
I liked the friending frenzy. I'm glad I've found at least one more friend from it.
