It is a pantomime, yes. I still watch it because I enjoy the actual dancing and the personal growth (what we get to see of it these days) but the filler is complete nonsense, I hate the way the sets and props are taking over more and more of the performances, and yes, I do think it is rather fixed in terms of couple matching, scoring etc. But then I never thought it was really a sincere competition because we all know it's a popularity contest to a certain extent as soon as you allow the public to vote on anything.
