1. Where did you go the last time you took an airplane ride?

I think the last flight I was on was to London City to go to a UD board meeting. There was a comic convention at the large convention centre that is on the Docklands Light Railway so the platforms and trains were full of kids in various costumes.

2. Are you a nervous flyer or a comfortable flyer?

I like flying. I fly lots. I used to fly monthly up and down to Bristol. I have perfected the art of a 45 minute power nap.

3. Window seat or aisle seat?

I prefer an aisle seat if I'm flying short-haul. I prefer the slightly more open feel and being able to disembark more quickly.

4. What is the worst experience you've had flying?

On an over night flight from Singapore to London. We'd been at a water park in Singapore during the day and I'd got some water in my ear. Taking off was really, really painful but the descent was agony and I sort of freaked out a bit and I may have knocked a glass of water out of the hands of a flight attendant as she passed it over me to MLW. I'm not sure I was in a lot of pain and panicking a bit. The worst bit was knowing that I had a fligth from London to Edinburgh almost immediately after.

5. What is the best experience you've had flying?

When my siblings and I flew from Australia to Scotland via Singapore. One the first leg we all got to go in the cockpit. One of mum's colleague's husband was an air traffic controller so he fixed it for us to go up front. I got to see several smoking volcanos from the cockpit. And on the second leg, landing in London, we got bumped up to First Class for the landing.

The Board Games Club met twice this week. I played Port Royal both lunchtimes. It's nice, simple but deep push-your-luck card game. Definately on my to buy list. I won my first game today with a narrow but very solid win at Port Royal. In other board gaming news one of the IT guys has given me a stack of useful plastic bags and what not so this evening I will be spending some time rationalising my board game collection some more.

This weekend I shall be attending the rugby at Murrayfield en famille. We are a little outing, with MLW, the Captain, the Captain's Particular Friend, The father of the CPF (with whom I coach mini-rugby), an old school chum of mine, her husband and son. I am hoping for better weather and a better result than last Saturday.

I have been to the gym several times this week. Doing quite a few weights. I continue to notice a definate improvement in my physical capabilities. Also, I've found some decent showers and worked out the timing so I can have a proper shower and still get to work on time without having to stand at the bus stop for more than two minutes.

I think I might start reading Kage Baker and Ursula Le Guin's back catalogue. I read a Kage Baker short story in a magazine this week and it delighted me. Also, Ailiette du Bodard, although she is not dead as far as I can tell.

Next week I shall be taking in some One Act Plays. I did some prompting for one my club's entries to the competition. A really interesting play about cloning and the extent to which your personality is genetically determined. Talking about the play prompted a classic conversation with the Captain about where babies come from. Bottom line, he doesn't care how much you love your babies he doesn't see why a man and a lady would want to rub penises together.
