So, I finally got my mental gears in sufficient order to attempt to sort out  my Steam account.

I spent about an hour or two pottering around with the system. There’s an odd quirk where Steam, the website, won’t let you do stuff sometimes when Steam, the client, is currently running. This makes doing stuff with it a little frustrating.

Anyhow, eventually I found a button that said, “If you want to fix your installation of the Steam client because it didn’t work the last two times you tried, Press Me.”

So I pressed that button and, lo, it worked and I could start Caped Crusader Two (aka Crusader Kings II.)

I retired to the family room to deliver a madrigal or two about my victory over my own incompetence to My Lovely Wife.  Returning to the study I found an error message.

“This game requires a Type X-Ty-Two graphics card. You don’t have a Type X-Ty-Two graphics card.  This game won’t work properly without one. Do you want to try any way?”

I ticked the Yes box.

And the game loaded up and started playing quite loud music against a black screen with a pointer icon in the style of a mailed hand. Then it stopped loading and left me with a blank screen with the Mailed Hand Pointer Icon. And some very loud, faux renaissance music.  Very loud.

The game appeared to have loaded up but no graphics were working.

Not sure I can be bothered sorting out a new graphics card at the moment.

So, ultimately a fail.
