There is an elderly gentleman sitting outside the Members’ Entrance of the Scottish Parliament on a little camp chair. He is wearing a hunters’ hat and a great big coat and he looks like he’s staying for the day. He looks rather dignified in a pugnacious sort of a way. I expect he’s brought a packed lunch and a thermos.
The weather looks fair today so I hope he’ll have pleasant day of it.

Beside him is a small bill board bearing the words.
In What Way Does Colin Beattie Represent Me?
He Won’t Answer My Email and He Won’t Meet Me.
I’m assuming an unsatisfied customer of the Scottish Nationalist MSP for Midlothian North and Musselburgh.

I am quite struck by how effective I think this protest will be. Most MSP’s and almost all MSP staff and many Parliament staff will enter Holyrood through that entrance so whatever the rights or wrongs of the particular case everyone in the building will know that Colin Beattie MSP has an unhappy customer. He will be teased and mocked and shamed. I bet he’ll be tucked up in a nice meeting room with a lovely cup of hot coffee and Mr Beattie by lunch time.
I bet it won’t get on the news. (ETA: The Edinburgh Evening News are interviewing him so perhaps he will get on the news.)
