Very much so. Fortunately my mum (who had a genuine episode of something even if it wasn't the stroke we feared it was at first) has started thinking seriously and openly about how she can maintain the maximum independence in the event of something actually going wrong. She's in Cornwall. Nearest child is Bristol. However, also in Bristol is newest grandchild.
Dad (who was just the subject of a bizarre rumour) hasn't been prodded in to any additional fitness regime but has sent me updated files on where to find his will and financial papers in the event of his sudden death. At least he's organised.
I hadn't realised how much it affected me but it did.
