I was perfectly happy with a book and still am on the train. I find I get a little fidgety now as I get older and can't settle to reading for more than a few hours on the train, perhaps this is a function of what I'm reading.
When we were driving round Australia I read books by the dozen each journey. No view to feel guilty about.
The Captain doesn't read yet so having something where he can entertain himself or be entertained is very helpful.
I always feel I ought to enjoy Dickens but rarely do.
