On Doughnuts

Jings the things you learn.

Apparantly there is a Krispy Kreme doughnut emporium newly opened on the outskirts of Edinburgh. They are serving more than 10,000 people a day. Customers are queueing for up to two hours with tailbacks for the drive through service backing up on the ring road. The owners have lodged an application for an all night license.

This had totally passed me by.

Oh, and it’s by Tori Amos.

I shall listen to that later on.

Clearly we have a different set of Edinburgh friends on Facebook. Because mine have been crazy since before it opened!

Aye - I'm pretty surprised I missed the whole boohaha.

Are you talking about me Mr D?? And the queues are nowhere near as bad now - I was in and out and served in ten minutes two weeks ago

Not just you by any means. My brother Hugh went all the way out there to buy a couple of boxes for his team...

I took in a double dozen to the Edinburgh office on my birthday - and they have one in Slough, too...

Are they particularly nice?

I remember when I had the first birthday after joining a new company and went from the tradition of the birthday person buying cakes to the tradition of the company buying cakes.

We had a lot of doughnuts.

Doughnuts also remind me of the time my brother was sent to buy some doughnuts for my dad, himself and his siblings. He fronted up to the doughnut stand and asked for twelve dozen. The guy asked him if he was sure and he thought about it for a monent and then said, nay I’d better have two twelve dozens.

I have to say, they are too good. As Chris Rock said, if it came out that there was cocaine in Krispy Kremes, the response would be "I knew it!"
