On Twitter 1914 - Hashtag #tw14t

Last night I started my innovative twitter drama project. Hence forth to be known as My Innovative Twitter Drama Project or MITDP.

The plan is to perform a devised, semi-improvised real time soap opera on Twitter exploring the summer of 1914 and the outbreak of the First World War.

I had most of the drama committee and a couple of folk attend a small presentation and workshop. I explained what I am trying to achieve, the process I am thinking of using to achieve my aims and the technical support I think I need.  I then facillitted a workshop to create a character.

What I was hoping for was to sense check my overall method with some colleagues to see if they thought it feasible and then see if the tool I was going to use for the main part of character generation was going to work.

They did and it did.

In fact the character creation part was surpisingly successful.

So the theory appears to work and it’s now time to test it in the real world. Mainly by doing it.

Twitter 1914 is go

In the old days when he could walk, my father and my uncle used to do One Staff Officer as their party piece at weddings, in full morning dress complete with top hats.

I'm not sure whether it's possible for any human being to be as embarrassed as my mother was by this.

Did they make her join in?

I don't think you understand the balance of power in those relationships.

In which case – how was your mother unable to make them stop?

it rather saddened me, too.

My great grandfather used to sing the Bells of Hell, but with more swear words than are traditional (or perhaps not) much to the shame of my grandmother.
