IIRC she was either pregnant or had just given birth.

Cable's weaknesses -- an inclination to shoot his mouth off in clear contradiction to party policy (eg all the times he's called for "no deal" to be on the ballot in a future referendum), his anti-immigration and pro-Brexit stances (walked back once he got re-elected to Parliament, but handily for our opponents captured on video and in articles he wrote -- and not walked back enough in the case of his anti-immigration rants), his wishing to hand the party over lock, stock, and barrel to the people who became Change UK (he pushed for "reforms", thankfully voted down by Conference, which would have turned the party into an email list, and no I'm not exaggerating there), his authoritarian centrism and lack of instinctive liberalism, his lack of understanding that authoritarian centrism and liberalism are not actually the same thing, his contempt for party internal democracy, his contempt for *other* parties' internal democracy (most notable in the way he kept saying that the Greens had turned down an electoral pact with us -- when what had actually happened was that he'd talked to Caroline Lucas, who of course is not the Greens' leader and doesn't have any official authority in their party, and *she* had turned the idea down), his constant equivocation, and his ego.

Almost every day during the election campaign he would shoot his mouth off, saying something that seemed deliberately designed to alienate the party's core vote, turn off pro-EU floating voters, and demoralise campaigners. Luckily he is so incredibly dull that nobody really noticed.

Also the whole being a Shell executive in the 90s during the Ken Saro-Wiwa scandal, which for me personally would be a deal-breaker even were none of the above true.
