On the Hamnavoe or Not

MLW and the rest of the guys in the band and I are going to Orkney on holiday.

An intricate travel plan has been hatched and booked. This involves us taking the ferry from Scrabster to Stromness.  Said ferry, the Hamnavoe, has broken its main crankshaft and is currently awaiting repair at Babcock's yard in Rosyth.

Mmmh.

Strangely, I have three different sets of friends going to Orkney this weekend!

Another couple were on the train to Thurso today - we met for coffee at Waverley. They are cycling, and the lack of the Northlink ferry is pretty significant...

I hope you sort out an alternative!

Coming late to this, but there is a passenger ferry from John O'Groats or at least there used to be).

Cheers.

A bit of research reveals the Pentalino running from Gill’s Bay to somewhere south of Kirkwall.

Not quite so convenient as going direct to Stromness but not a deal breaker.

Also, I think North Link have found a substitute boat.

We've got a few months for the ferry to be fixed.
