On Birthday Presents to Myself

My usual birthday present to myself is the latest edition of the Mammoth Book of the Year's Best Science Fiction - edited by Gardner Dozois. However, he's not doing those any more.

So I've signed up for a begineers improv class. Now, long-time readers may recall that I used to *teach* improv so a novice class may be under shooting it but, a) it's been some years since I did any improv outside of a rehearsal studio, b) it's the improv troupe's not-unreasonable rule that everyone goes through improv 101 before doing anything more.

So, beginers improv it is. 

There is a clash with Fat Rugby - but I think missing two months of Fat Rugby in order to unlock several years of other improv classes and performance is okay.  Weight loss is going okay.

Sounds like an excellent plan! I'm glad you're getting back to your hobbies!

Yeah, it's part of a slow plan for when the Captain is no longer living with us. Or at least old enough that he doesn't need close parental support with the things he does - which for me is mostly rugby.

I've enjoyed the rugby. I've gotten a lot out of it. I'm not sure I'm adding much of myself to it at the moment. Which is fine. I'm content to be a bottle-washer and form filler-in for a bit. There's a non-zero chance that I'll get to be pitch side watching my boy score the winning try in a cup final at Murrayfield. So I'll stay involved but time to look up and look a bit beyond that time.
