I am hopeful that renewables will be significantly cheaper than fossil fuels so the money will be less of an issue. Particuarly as most developing countries are closer to the equator then most developed countries. How the money shakes out I think depends on whether those countries are converting or scrapping exiting fossil fuel plants or replacing them at the end of their life. I'd expect them to do the latter whilst also using more renewables when adding capacity to their existing grid.
I need to find out more about the Indian energy system. That seems important in this context.
