Friday Fives for Friday 14th September
Friday has staggered to the end of the week along side me and it's time for the Friday Five.
1) I am tired. P, a friend of MLW (mostly) from university has been in town doing some research. He is a history don at Oxford and is studying early modern commercial history. He visits Edinburgh about once a year to do some research in various archives. I've been hosting him for diner and drinks on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. He's an utterly lovely bloke and has great chat. It's been delightful to see him but I'm partied out. MLW has also been away, so I've been doing all Captain Wrangling. And working. Oh, and I had some sort of a job interview. I am ready for the weekend.
2) My ankle is quite sore and a bit stiff. I have some exercises to do that help keep it moving. It's sore and stiff enough to be inconvenient and also to change my mood. I feel sore and grumpy.
3) I have loads of holiday left. I should think of something nice to do with it.
4) I want a new drinks cabinet and some new occassional tables in the family room. We used to have three, one broke, now we have two. That is not enough. A new drinks cabinet would make our dining table work better (the two pieces of furniture are a little in the way of each other). Also my drinks cabinet is full.
5) I have eaten rather well this week. I cooked a roast gammon in cola with a maple syrup and mustard glaze on Saturday. On Monday I made baked Camembert, along with a cheese board featuring some rather excellent cheddar with cracked pepper. Tuesday, P made us chilli and cheesey nachos, Wednesday was left over gammon and chips with saute pineapple. All washed down with plenty of BrewDog beer and some nice whisky. (P likes whisky, I feel that I'm his whisky spirit guide. I like to help him enjoy it.)
