On Friday Fives for Friday the 13th April
Friday Five
1) MLW was away in Krakow. She seems to have had a nice time and it was warm there. Meanwhile the Captain and I added several exciting Nerf guns to our arsenal and spent Tuesday evening shooting each other. I picked him up from holiday camp with a Sainsbury's bag full of Nerf guns and pretended that there were no Nerf guns in it, just shopping. This was very exciting for an eight year old.
2) I had picked up the Nerf Guns from the Toys R Us closing down depot for cheap. The shop was pretty much empty other than some big boxes of Lego and a collection of Nerf Guns. Insolvency always looks sad.
3) This weekend I am at the last UD meeting of the term. After this there is an election for a new board.
4) Touch rugby has started up again for what we are laughingly refering to as "the summer". I am a bit stiff after playing last night. It was mizzling and for parts of the game when the flood lights were on I could see bugger all. Scored a try, exhausted myself to the point where I watched Masterchef. Had a beer and an early night.
5) I have solved the mystery of the City and the City by deciding that in fact I had not misplaced the book in my house but had never owned it. So I bought it and am reading it now. I will have to hurry myself along so that I can watch the television series after reading the book.

I'll know more once I've been up and down to London tomorrow.
Embassytown was very interesting.

I loved The Scar and quite liked Perdido Street Station, although it's pretty bleak, but Iron Council just went on for a long time without anything actually happening and I gave up after that. I love the title The City and The City, though.

I liked Perdito Street Station very much but the Iron Council could have been 100 pages shorter for sure.
