I think the writers also spent a chunk of time wondering where they were going and then ended up in a position where they only had one option. Starbuck is particularly badly served by it but I shall say no more because I managed to watch it a few years back without being spoiled for the ending and I don't want to spoil you if you also avoided it at the time!
